Second Jetpack Sighting Report Close to Los Angeles Airport

A China Airlines pilot reported spotting a person on a jetpack close to his approach to land in LAX.

The last sighting of a person in a jetpack was a few weeks  ago at the same area around Los Angeles Airport.

LAX is the third busiest airport in the world, and second to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The incident was reported by the pilot Wednesday afternoon about an unidentified flying object just above downtown Los Angeles.

The communication between the pilot and tower was recorded.

Pilot:

“We just saw a flying object like a flight suit passing by us – 6-thousand.”

Tower:

“A flying object? Was it a UAV or was it a jetpack?”

Pilot:

“Like a jetpack.”

Jetpack sighting mystery

The FAA says that a China Airilines flight from Taiwan reported what it looks to be a jetpack hovering around 6,000 feet in the air as they’re about to approach their landing.

Though other planes in the vicinity did not spot the unknown object.

They estimated that is close to the east of Century City close to the 10 freeway.

Investigations for the sightings

The FAA and the FBI is investigating similar sightings that happened six weeks ago, where two flight crew on separate flights reported seeing a person wearing a jetpack flying near the airliners.

For the meantime, it’s not clear if there is a link between this incidents.

Jetpacks are not easy to get

JetPack Aviation is the only jetpack company operating in Los Angeles and has no idea how it’s possible to fly a jetpack without getting noticed.

Since jetpacks are still in development and it’s not commercially available, flying and landing a loud jetpack in a densely populated area like Los Angeles will surely be on social media in no time.
