For Social Security recipients you don’t need to file your tax returns to receive a stimulus check.

On April 1, 2020, The Trump organization backtracked what it said that you need to file a tax return to receive a stimulus check.

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said in a statement, “Social Security recipients who are not typically required to file a tax return need to take no action, and will receive their payment directly to their bank account”.

Apparently elderly Americans and senators were outraged, therefore they took back the guidance that said that seniors need to file taxes to receive a $1200 stimulus check.

Most retirees are not required to file their taxes.

The information will be gathered from the Social Security beneficiaries’  1099 documents, SSA-1099 and form RRB-1099 for individuals who do not have 2018 or 2019 tax returns on record.
